Trak Racer TR80 Lite Review

The Trak Racer TR80 Lite is a 4080 aluminum extrusion simulator rig positioned in the same segment as the GT Omega Prime Lite, Sim-Lab GT1 Evo, and SimXpro X80. In Europe, rigs built from 4080 profiles have become the most affordable entry into strong, highly configurable aluminum cockpits.
The TR80 Lite weighs 36 kg, has a medium footprint, and comes without a seat or seat rails, making it a pure base rig designed for customization.

🧱 Build & Construction

🛠 Modularity

As with any extrusion rig, the strength lies in configurability. Everything is fixed with bolts, so no on-the-fly adjustments are possible unless you add seat sliders. Finding the perfect position can take time, but once locked in, it stays there firmly.

🎡 Wheelbase Mount

  • Tiltable plate
  • 10cm forward/backward travel
  • Fully compatible with major brands (Fanatec, Moza, Thrustmaster, Logitech, Cammus…)
  • 66cm vertical profile height — a bit short for tall drivers wanting chin-height wheels
  • 8 mounting points for excellent rigidity
  • Rated up to ~10 Nm wheelbases

There is flex in the wheelbase area. Not catastrophic and not intrusive for casual driving, but worth noting if you’re a “zero-flex” purist.

🦶 Pedal Deck

One of the rig’s highlights.

  • Full-width, heavily braced pedal plate
  • Extremely configurable
  • Plenty of mounting options thanks to numerous extrusions
  • ~10cm side slots for fine adjustment
  • Uses the reliable GT1-style “twin vertical risers” for tilt
  • Almost no flex

One of the strongest pedal platforms in this category.

🧰 Build Quality – Strengths & Weaknesses

✔ Strengths

  • Very smart design choices
  • Vertical profile reinforcement with triangle brackets (superior to L-brackets)
  • Excellent pedal deck
  • Beautiful finishing touches like branded end caps
  • Included leveling tool (with magnet!)
  • Good packaging and hardware
  • Great structural rigidity for the price

✖ Weaknesses

  • T-nuts: 3–5 were defective (higher than average)
  • Powder coating scratches very easily
    • Thin layer, marks quickly during adjustments
    • A black permanent marker is almost mandatory
  • Some wheelbase flex
  • Not ideal as a family rig due to fixed layout

🎨 Aesthetic Touches

Trak Racer clearly wanted to differentiate itself from the generic “black industrial beam rig” look.
They nailed it with details like:

  • Red accent stripe
  • Branded caps
  • Better packaging
  • Included tools and accessories

Small touches — big impact.

🎁 Features & Included Accessories

  • Shifter mount bar
  • Cable management plugs
  • Sticker sheet
  • Leveling tool
  • All hardware + tools
  • Beautiful finishing caps with TR logo

💶 Pricing

  • Base rig: 429€
  • July 2023 discount: –40 to –50€
  • Practical total with seat + rails: ± 730€

This puts it directly against the GT Omega Prime Lite bundle, and the TR80 Lite holds its own exceptionally well.

🧩 Compatibility

Being an extrusion rig:
✔ Works with nearly all seats
✔ Works with nearly all pedal sets
✔ Works with nearly all wheelbases
✔ Works with accessories from any brand
That’s the beauty of the extrusion standard.

📝 Conclusion

The Trak Racer TR80 Lite is, quite simply, one of the best — if not the best — 4080 profile rigs in this price range.
It brings smart design, excellent rigidity where it matters, and an attention to detail that many competitors ignore.

It’s not perfect — the wheelbase mount flex and the fragile paint are real downsides — but for its price, it delivers superb value, excellent functionality, and a premium feel rarely found in entry-tier aluminum rigs.

If you want a strong, great-looking extrusion cockpit without overspending, the TR80 Lite is an easy recommendation.

Great job, Trak Racer.
