Still, the idea and the accessibility it brings earn the HF8 a deserved spot in the 2023 highlight list.

⚡ Fanatec’s Dominant Year: Bundles, QR2 & More

No brand shook the market harder in 2023 than Fanatec.

Major highlights

  • Ready to Race bundles: Direct drive performance priced almost like a Logitech G29 — completely disrupting the entry-level market.
  • Massive Black Friday success: So big, some customers are still waiting for delivery.
  • Long-awaited QR2 release: After years of anticipation, it finally arrived.
  • New wheelbases introduced, strengthening their direct drive lineup.

2023 was undeniably Fanatec’s year in the wheelbase segment.

🔧 CAMMUS C5 — Direct Drive for the Masses

Another standout release was the CAMMUS C5.

  • 5 Nm constant torque (7 Nm peak)
  • Direct drive at a shockingly low price
  • Surprisingly high build quality
  • A fresh, different design approach

The C5 is one of the most disruptive budget DD wheelbases the market has seen. It easily earns a spot among the most exciting releases of 2023.

🌀 Thrustmaster T818 — A Pleasant Surprise

Thrustmaster also delivered an unexpected highlight: the T818.

Although it is priced too high to recommend widely, the driving quality genuinely impressed this year.

  • Excellent performance in BeamNG.drive
  • Strong, enjoyable force feedback in ACC
  • Very refined driving feel

Not the most competitive value, but absolutely a memorable release in 2023.

🟦 GT Omega Prime Lite — Best Bang-for-Buck Aluminum Rig

Released early in the year, the Prime Lite became a top recommendation:

  • Great value
  • Very sturdy design
  • Innovative wheel deck lowering mechanism
  • Bundled with the comfortable RS12 seat

A rock-solid entry into the aluminum rig category.

🔴 Trak Racer TR80 Lite — Strong Answer to GT Omega

Trak Racer followed with the TR80 Lite, another excellent aluminum frame:

  • Extremely complete package
  • Very sharp pricing
  • Aesthetic accents and branding that bring life to the frame
  • Build quality slightly below GT Omega, but still excellent overall

A well-deserved highlight of the year.

🏆 Playseat Trophy Price Drop — Instant Number One

Though not released in 2023, the Playseat Trophy became a major highlight this year thanks to a significant price drop.

Previously top 5 in tubular rigs, it became the clear #1 in its category for value.
If you’re shopping for a tubular frame, the Trophy is the one to look at.

🪑 Playseat Challenge X — A Complete Redesign

Another Playseat highlight was the Challenge X.

  • A full redesign of the classic Playseat Challenge
  • New ActiFit fabric introduced earlier in the year — highly comfortable
  • Massive improvements across the board
