👉 CAMMUS LP8
Before we begin — thank you so much for helping the channel pass 2,000 subscribers. I appreciate every single one of you!
Let’s dive into the details.
🖌️ Design & Aesthetics — Two Unique Approaches
Both wheelbases stand out from competitors thanks to their non-standard exterior designs.

Thrustmaster T818
- Hexagonal shape with sharp corners
- Exchangeable front plates (six colors available)
- LED strip placed at the front — highly visible with round wheels
CAMMUS LP8
- Simpler, more conventional shape
- Fully metal exterior
- Underside features pre-drilled holes compatible with many modern rigs
- LED bar placed at the back — barely visible on most setups
Winner (Design Practicality): CAMMUS LP8
Winner (Aesthetics & LEDs): Thrustmaster T818
🏗️ Build Quality — Plastic vs Metal
Thrustmaster T818
Made primarily out of high-quality plastic, with metal side plates used mostly for cosmetic purposes.
The front LEDs are well-placed and extremely functional.
CAMMUS LP8
Completely constructed from metal, including the quick-release mechanism.
The QR is harder to operate, but far sturdier.
Build Quality Verdict
If you value premium materials and a strong QR: LP8 wins.
If you prefer convenience and LED visibility: T818 wins.
⚙️ Force Feedback & Driving Experience
🔵 Thrustmaster T818
With 10Nm of holding torque, the T818 offers a wide dynamic range of FFB. Combined with mature firmware, the result is:
- Smooth, high-resolution feedback
- Excellent road detail
- Strong cornering sensations
- Very immersive feel, especially with Thrustmaster’s F1 wheel
In ACC, the T818 felt more connected, especially during fast direction changes.
🔶 CAMMUS LP8
The LP8’s motor is good and very smooth, but the firmware needs refinement.
- Clinical smoothness
- High precision
- Less “alive” feeling compared to T818
- Noticeable clipping in BeamNG
- Weaker road detail and braking feedback
Driving Verdict
- ACC: T818 slightly better
- BeamNG: T818 significantly better
- LP8: Pleasant, but outclassed in immersion
The T818 simply provides more zest, more detail, and better control.
🎮 Ecosystem & Software
🧩 Thrustmaster Ecosystem
- Large accessory library
- Many wheels available
- Accessories from budget to premium
- But… still no proper leather GT wheel of good diameter — surprising!
🧩 CAMMUS Ecosystem
- Much smaller
- But includes a high-quality leather wheel, something Thrustmaster doesn’t offer
- Good value bundles (base, wheel, pedals)
💽 Software
- Thrustmaster: very simple, beginner-friendly, but limited
- CAMMUS: more advanced settings and tweaking options
Verdict
- Ecosystem size: Thrustmaster wins
- Leather wheel availability & value: CAMMUS wins
- Software flexibility: CAMMUS wins
💰 Price Difference — A Massive Gap
- Thrustmaster T818: ~650€
- CAMMUS LP8: 299 USD (plus tax)
The difference is enormous — nearly double the price.
And while the T818 is the better wheelbase…
…the performance difference is not twice as good.
🧪 Compatibility
Easy:
👉 Both are PC-only wheelbases.
No other compatibility differences.
🏁 Conclusion — Which One Should You Buy?
🥇 Thrustmaster T818
- Better firmware
- Better immersion
- Better force-feedback detail
- Stronger cornering performance
- More refined sim-driving experience
If budget is not an issue and you want a proven, polished experience, the T818 is the safer choice.
🥈 CAMMUS LP8
- Cheaper — massively cheaper
- Full metal construction
- Strong quick release
- Ecosystem includes a great leather wheel
- Performance that could improve with updates
If you care about value for money, the LP8 is a compelling alternative.
For the price of one T818, you can buy an entire CAMMUS setup (wheelbase + pedals + wheel).
But the risk is clear:
You’re betting on CAMMUS improving its firmware over time — and improvement is not guaranteed.
