Logitech RS50 Wheelbase Review – TrueForce Power for Everyone

The performance of the Logitech RS50 didn’t really come as a surprise for me. On paper, this seemed to be a phenomenal answer for the console-market.

💎 Design and Build Quality

I’m all for this Logitech design. The RS50 looks really nice — especially compared to the competition.

  • Fanatec’s bases are fine, but Logitech’s RS50 simply looks more modern.
  • It has a premium aluminum center, with plastic panels at the front and back.
  • The size is just right: 15 cm deep × 16 cm high × 19 cm wide.
  • The trapezium shape feels unique compared to the rectangular design of most other wheelbases like MOZA or Fanatec.

I’d still love to see a splash of color — maybe a stroke of blue or red — but overall, it’s a pure Logitech design that feels very premium.

⚙️ Technology and Features

Under the hood, the RS50 packs an 8 Nm direct drive motor that feels strong and responsive.

There’s also a small monochrome display (3×2 cm) that lets you:

  • Change settings on the fly
  • Adjust TrueForce, steering angle, damping, etc.
  • See basic telemetry (if your game supports it)

🔌 Connectivity

Logitech moved completely to USB connections — a smart choice.

  • Three USB-A ports at the back for pedals and shifter
  • One USB-C to USB-A for PC/console connection
  • The Quick Release (QR) system feels solid and foolproof

⚠️ Note: Old Logitech pedals (with serial connectors) require the Logitech Racing Adapter.

Unfortunately, third-party USB gear (like Thrustmaster shifters) won’t connect directly to the RS50.

TrueForce – Still the Game-Changer

If you’ve seen my previous videos on the G923 or G Pro, you know I’m a fan of TrueForce — and it’s just as impressive here.

TrueForce adds texture and emotion to your driving:

  • Feel road surfaces, kerbs, and gear shifts
  • Sense engine revs through the wheel
  • Adds a layer of realism other systems can’t match

Fanatec’s FullForce and Thrustmaster’s Harmony try to do something similar, but honestly, they’re not close. TrueForce remains the gold standard.

🕹 Driving Experience

🚕 Taxi Simulator

The RS50 feels fantastic here — responsive, smooth, and immersive.
Force feedback is strong, and the base communicates bumps and turns well.
TrueForce isn’t implemented in Taxi Simulator (yet), but when it is, it’ll be a huge improvement.

🚗 BeamNG

Here, TrueForce shines!
At low RPM, you can feel the entire rig resonate.
At higher RPMs, you feel road textures and subtle vibrations that bring the car to life.
The 8 Nm torque feels intense and natural — enough to make you fight the wheel in corners (in a good way).

💻 Compatibility and Software

You can choose between:

  • Xbox/PC version
  • PlayStation/PC version

Games like Taxi Simulator and BeamNG already support the RS50, and more are joining in quickly.

Software-wise, Logitech keeps it simple:

  • Managed through G Hub
  • Adjustable: steering angle, damper, filter, and TrueForce
  • Limited fine-tuning for advanced users, but beginner-friendly

🧩 Ecosystem

This is where Logitech still lags a bit behind Fanatec or MOZA.
They offer:

  • Sequential shifter/handbrake
  • Quick release for custom wheels
  • Racing adapter for older gear
  • Two sets of pedals (including a load-cell brake on the budget model)

But… still no proper H-shifter, and the ecosystem feels small for now.

💶 Price and Value

  • PlayStation version – €399
  • PC-only version – €299
  • Fanatec GT DD Pro (8 Nm) – around €600
  • Thrustmaster T598 – similar to RS50 PS price

That’s great value for Logitech’s quality, especially for console users.

⚠️ Issues and Support

When I first got my RS50, it was unfortunately Dead on Arrival — a USB connection issue on the motherboard.
Support… wasn’t great. The AI assistant was frustrating, and it took weeks to get a replacement. Logitech eventually made it right, but the process needs improvement.

There are also software quirks — for example, in Assetto Corsa Competizione you may need to manually adjust the steering angle (1200° workaround).

✅ Conclusion

The Logitech RS50 is a very decent and capable wheelbase.
It offers:

  • Excellent design and build
  • Strong 8 Nm force feedback
  • Outstanding TrueForce immersion
  • Great value for money

There are still some weak points — ecosystem depth, limited G Hub options, and that AI support experience — but overall, this is one of the most enjoyable wheelbases I’ve tested in its class.
