GT Omega Prime Lite Review – The standard in 2023

Today we take a detailed look at the GT Omega Prime Lite cockpit, a profile-based sim racing rig that sits right in the sweet spot between high configurability, comfort, and price.

Profile cockpits are known for their flexibility — and the Prime Lite does not disappoint. In fact, in several areas, it does something I haven’t seen before.

⚙️ Configuration & Adjustability

As expected from an aluminum profile cockpit, configurability is phenomenal.

🏎️ Wheelbase Mounting

The wheelbase holder sits between two vertical pillars, which can slide over the entire length of the base profiles.

What makes this rig special is the choice of mounting methods:

  • ✅ Hard-bolted mounting
  • ✅ Side-bolted mounting
  • ✅ Lever-driven hand screws (my preferred option)

Using the lever screws allows for quick height adjustments without tools — a feature I haven’t encountered on other profile rigs before. It works extremely well and feels genuinely useful.

The holder itself is well thought out:

  • Detachable top plate for easy wheel mounting
  • Slight wheel angle adjustment
  • Additional fine-tuning via the lower section

Smart design from start to finish.

🦶 Pedal Plate Adjustment

The pedals can:

  • Slide across the full profile length
  • Be elevated in six different positions

You do have to consider pillar placement, but once set, the pedal plate is:

  • ✅ Extremely stable
  • ✅ Compatible with virtually all mainstream pedal sets

🪑 Seat Positioning

The seat is mounted between the base profiles and adjusted via:

  • Seat rails
  • Reclining mechanism

This allows very precise positioning and easy entry/exit.

🧱 Build Quality & Assembly

Build quality is excellent — and just as important, building it was a pleasure.

I assembled this rig completely by myself in a couple of hours, without frustration. After experiences with more difficult builds (hello SimXPro X80), this was refreshingly straightforward.

🔩 Profile Quality

Compared to some competitors:

  • The profiles use less aluminum, making the rig lighter
  • Despite this, rigidity remains excellent

This highlights something important:
👉 Design and connection points matter more than sheer material mass

  • Wheelbase pillars are mounted in three positions with six bolts
  • Under heavy BeamNG force feedback, there was little to no flex
  • Pedals showed no noticeable movement

🎨 Finish & Seat Quality

  • Glossy black profiles look fantastic
  • Scratch-resistant, but fingerprints and dust show easily (as expected)

The RS12 seat deserves special praise:

  • Extremely comfortable
  • Spacious seating area
  • Adjustable via seat rails & recliner
  • Water, oil, and dirt-resistant fabric (according to GT Omega)

I spend hours in this seat — not just sim racing, but also gaming casually — and comfort remains excellent.

⚠️ Minor downside:

  • Recliner handle can be blocked by the shifter
  • One recliner cover feels flimsy and could be better finished
  • A dual-lock recliner system would cause less flex on the back

🎯 Features & Included Extras

For an entry-level profile rig, the feature set is strong:

  • Shifter mount included (rare at this price point)
  • ✅ Two-piece profile shifter arm + plate
  • ✅ Click-in cable management clips
  • ✅ Lever-driven mounting screws
  • ✅ High-quality bolts with ribbed edges
  • ✅ Surprisingly good included tools

Small details — but they greatly enhance the experience.

🧩 Options & Ecosystem

GT Omega’s shop offers an impressive range of add-ons:

  • Cup holders
  • Headset holders
  • Casters (which I chose and highly recommend)
  • Pedal-to-seat footrest plate (excellent idea)

You can also buy the rig without a seat, and GT Omega offers a variety of seating options — including the RS12 in pink or red for those who want more personality.

💰 Price & Value

  • 611€ introductory price
  • ✅ Includes rig, seat, seat rails, reclining backrest, shifter mount
  • ✅ Shipping included (EU)

This is important — many competitors add shipping and import fees on top, which can drastically increase final cost.

For what you get, the price is extremely competitive.

⚖️ Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Outstanding configurability
  • Very comfortable seat included
  • Excellent rigidity for lighter profiles
  • Smart mounting solutions
  • Shifter holder included
  • Great value for money

❌ Cons

  • Glossy profiles show dust easily
  • Recliner finishing could be better
  • Shifter can obstruct recliner handle
  • Boring design

🏁 Final Verdict

This was one of the first big investments I made as a reviewer and I ended up using it for quite some time.

The GT Omega Prime Lite delivers:

  • Stability
  • Comfort
  • Configurability
  • And crucially — value

It’s a rig I genuinely enjoy sitting in for hours, whether racing or gaming casually. That, to me, is one of the highest compliments you can give a cockpit.

The price was hard to beat at launch and even in today’s market, its priced competitively — but if the competition thinks otherwise, my mailbox is open 😉
