📊 SimTourist Score Interpretation

⭐ 10.0 — Benchmark

Reserved for products that redefine their category. These products set a new standard with virtually no meaningful weaknesses and are awarded only in exceptionally rare cases.

⭐ 9.5 — Exceptional

Among the very best products currently available. Outstanding in almost every aspect, with only the smallest compromises preventing a perfect score.

⭐ 9.0 — Outstanding

Delivers an excellent experience with very few weaknesses. A product that confidently ranks among the top performers in its category.

⭐ 8.5 — Excellent

Performs extremely well across most areas and offers excellent value. Minor compromises exist but have little impact on the overall experience.

⭐ 8.0 — Very Good

A strong all-round performer that comfortably exceeds expectations. Noticeable compromises exist but do not significantly detract from daily use.

⭐ 7.5 — Good

A solid and enjoyable product that performs well, although stronger alternatives may exist depending on individual priorities and use cases.

⭐ 7.0 — Above Average

Competent and capable, but with enough shortcomings that buyers should carefully consider their specific needs before purchasing.

⭐ 6.5 — Average

Functional but held back by several noticeable weaknesses or missed opportunities. Suitable for some users, but no longer a standout recommendation.

⭐ 6.0 — Below Average

Performance or usability issues begin to outweigh the product’s strengths. Better alternatives are usually available within the same price segment.

⭐ 5.5 — Poor

Significant shortcomings make the product difficult to recommend except in very specific circumstances.

⭐ 5.0 or lower — Unsatisfactory

Serious flaws substantially impact the user experience. Most buyers should strongly consider alternative products.

ℹ️ About the SimTourist Scoring System

Every SimTourist Scorecard is calculated using the average of all applicable attribute scores. Attributes marked as N/A are excluded from the calculation, ensuring that products are never penalized for features they simply do not offer.

Unlike many review websites, all applicable attributes contribute equally to the final score. SimTourist intentionally avoids hidden weighting factors, allowing readers to judge for themselves which aspects are most important to their own setup and driving style.

Scores are awarded using a deliberately conservative methodology. Products scoring 9.0 or higher are genuinely outstanding, while a perfect 10/10 is reserved only for hardware that sets a new benchmark within its category. As a result, even a 7.5/10 should still be considered a solid recommendation rather than an indication of a poor product.

At SimTourist, every scorecard reflects my own independent testing and experience with the hardware at the time of review. While I strive to be as accurate and objective as possible, no review is ever beyond improvement.

If you are a manufacturer and believe a product deserves a re-evaluation—whether due to design revisions, updated hardware, or concerns about the original assessment—I am happy to consider a new review.

Please note that re-reviews are only possible if the required hardware is provided for testing. As many of the products featured on SimTourist were purchased second-hand or borrowed, I cannot revisit them unless they are made available again.

Providing hardware does not guarantee a higher score or a more favorable review. Every product is evaluated using the same transparent methodology and scoring system, regardless of how it was obtained.
